Public Use of Land and Balancing Needs of Residents and Event Promoters

The issue: Grant Park is the front yard of the City and the Park and Soldier Field are used for a number of major events. With the substantial residential growth in the central business district, concerns continue to grow about the increasing number of special events held. Residents who move to the downtown area are unrealistic to think these locations are not going to be used for major events but at the same time, increasing the number of days residents cannot access the public lands because special events is not realistic either. The objective to this meeting is to discuss, hear and address concerns and potentially identify a proper balance.
